Random Acts of Kindness week is next week. The Sources of Strength team would like all students to celebrate by following these dress-up days. Stay tuned for more about Random Acts of Kindness week.

PC 4th grade students have been working hard and having fun in STEM class! Using the Project Lead the Way (PLTW) curriculum, Energy Exploration and solving: "How can we design a windmill prototype with blades that turn when moving air passes over them?"
They used the Engineering and Design Process to guide them through their learning journey. The design and Engineering Process allowed them to Ask, Explore, Model, Evaluate and Explain. The coolest part of the curriculum was learning about William Kamkwamba, “The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind” and applying the story to their classroom setting! If you haven't read the book, or watched the Netflix documentary, check it out to see what 4th grade has been adding into their cultural schema!

The Perry Central Color Guard will be hosting a clinic in March and is inviting students currently in grades 6th-11th to attend. The color guard performs with the marching band at home varsity football games during the halftime show. The color guard brings the music to life for the band and is a performance art.
At the end of the clinic, attendees will have the chance to sign up for the upcoming season. Color guard, including the clinic, is free to all participants. Members have the option to purchase their own flag, but it is not required. The color guard coach is willing to work with other sport activities as long as members can make it to most practices and band camp which takes place the last week of July. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Clark or Lamanda VanWinkle.

The mini cheerleaders had a great time at the PC cheer clinic last Saturday! The future Commodore cheerleaders also got to perform at the JV/Varsity boys’ basketball game! #good2bgreen

PC 6th grade students created a journey where you could SAIL on the Magical Nonsuch Ship to explore the Solar System in the hallway at the entrance to the Dome. The students did a jigsaw activity in their science classes. As a special note: Nonsuch was the name of the last ship that Commodore Perry sailed on the Orinoco River to the Port of Spain. On his 34th birthday, he died from yellow fever on the ship before reaching Spain. The Houses in 6th grade are named after ships that Commodore Perry manned. #good2bgreen
