Class of 2026 Profile - Gavin Guillaume

Our #EarlyCollege program is all about giving students options—whether that’s graduating sooner, saving on tuition, or chasing a second degree. It’s about more than just grades; it’s about being ready for what comes next. Cohen Edwards, Class of 2025 WKU Mechanical Engineering – Being an early college student has helped me in many ways when it comes to being prepared for college. Taking these classes in high school gave me a clear sense of what a college class looks like on a day-to-day basis, which helped me adjust to the pace and workload. Additionally, being an early college student allowed me to enter college as a junior, which meant I could immediately take classes related to my major without having to focus on many general education requirements.

Madison Kelly, Class of 2024 - Indiana University - The Early College program significantly benefited me coming into college. I was able to bypass all gen ed classes and jump right into my prerequisites for ICORE. It saved me so much time and took a lot of stress off of freshman year. I highly recommend taking advantage of this program.

Julia Walsh, Class of 2025 – Animal Science/Pre-Vet – Purdue University – Early college programs at Perry Central have helped me significantly at Purdue. Despite being a freshman, my transcript classifies me as a junior by credits. Not only that, but thanks to these early college classes, I have already completed all of my general education requirements, allowing me to jump straight into courses for my major. In fact, next semester I will be taking only animal science courses along with organic chemistry. I was also able to skip an introductory-level biology class and go directly into the next level of general biology. Overall, the early college program helped me get ahead in my education and begin taking major-specific courses as soon as I arrived at Purdue.

Madelyn Kelly, Class of 2024 - WKU Nursing - Taking early college classes in high school was one of the best decisions I made. Walking into freshman year at WKU, I already felt more confident, prepared, and independent. I felt like I was ahead of the game.

Check out this special message from Perry Central alum, Patrick Mitchell. #EarlyCollegeWeek #PursueWithPurpose #PCAlum @CELLuindy
Patrick Mitchell, Class of 2021 - Hanover College - I am currently in my final year of the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Hanover College (graduating in August 2026), but this career choice isn’t exactly what I had in mind when I was a freshman or sophomore in high school. At that time in my life, I planned not to attend college and instead go into the trades, although I wasn’t very passionate about them (I honestly just wanted to coast through high school). My mother, however, disagreed and enrolled me in as many dual-credit college courses as I could possibly take during those two years. Eventually, after several sports injuries, I ended up in a PT clinic and began to develop a passion for that field, which typically requires a four-year bachelor’s degree and a three-year doctoral degree. By the time I graduated high school, I had earned 60 dual-credit hours at Perry Central. With these extra courses and college credits, I was able to graduate an entire calendar year early with my bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and integrative physiology (2024) and, most importantly, position myself to graduate with my doctoral degree in August 2026. In essence, instead of spending seven years in school, I am able to finish all of my education in just five years. Long story short, the courses I began taking simply because my mother made me have not only benefited me by saving thousands of dollars in tuition, living costs, books, and room and board, but have also allowed me to begin my career sooner. If you take anything away from this, I encourage you, on behalf of your future self, to take as many dual-credit courses as you can—the worst thing that can happen is you learn a little more.
