Perry Central Elementary Announcements May 22, 2017
REMINDER: Students are not allowed to wear open-toed shoes for safety reasons.
7TH GRADE CLASS OFFICERS: Any 6th grade student interested in running for 7th grade class officer needs to return a completed application to Mrs. Lynch by Monday, May 22nd by 3 pm. No Late Submissions will be accepted. Voting will take place on Tuesday, May 23rd. For extra applications, check the wall pockets outside the elementary office. Any questions, then please see Mrs. Lynch. 5TH & 6TH CHEER TRYOUTS: Cheer Tryouts for the 2017-18 Season will be taking place on May 23 starting at 3:30. This will be for students going into the 5th and 6th grades.
2ND & 3RD VOLLEYBALL CAMP: 2nd and 3rd Grade Volleyball Camp will be held Monday – Wednesday, May 22nd – 24th from 3 – 5:15 pm in the HS Gym.
TRACK & FIELD CAMP: The High School Track team is hosting a Track and Field Camp on June 19-23. Students entering grades 1st-7th grades are invited. The cost is $20 and there are two options for a time of the camp. Forms have been distributed to the classrooms. If extra forms are needed, then please pick up one in the wall pockets at the Elementary Office. Forms and money are due to the office by May 19th.
SPEED CAMP: Summer Speed Camp will be available this summer to athletes in current 5th and 6th grade. The camp will focus on: explosive speed, coordination and balance, multi-directional movement, and endurance and stamina. Speed Camp is for all athletes in any sport! Camp will be held on every Monday and Wednesday in June, from 6:30 – 7:45 am in the High School Gym.
FOOTBALL CAMP: The 2nd Annual Football Camp for students entering grades 5/6 will be held on May 30th-31st and grades 7/8 will be held on June 1st-2nd. The camp will be run by varsity football coaches, past and current players. The camp will be held on the practice football field from 8:30 - 11:00 a.m. Cost for the camp is $5.00 which covers refreshments after the sessions. Forms are available outside the elementary and high school offices.
GIRLS SUMMER BASKETBALL CAMP: Girls in grades 4th - 8th are invited to attend a three day camp on May 30-June 1st. The camp will be followed by scrimmages against Tell City and Heritage Hills on June 2, June 9th and 13th. Forms for participation are available outside the elementary office and need returned by May 19th.
DISTINXION BASEBALL CAMP: There will be a Distinxion Baseball Camp on June 9th & 10th for students in grades 3-8th at the Springs Valley High School Baseball Field in French Lick, IN. Cost is $79 and sign up by going to Distinxion.org.
CHROMEBOOK TURN IN: Students will need to turn in their computing devices to the technology office before the end of the semester. Students will be called out by grade near the end of the day May 25 to turn in theirs. Students are responsible for the device being in proper order and the presence of the case (if applicable) and charger. Cost for items that are damaged or not returned: HP Laptop Replacement cost: $350 (HP 455 G2) Chromebook replacement cost: $290 (HP Chromebook 11 G4) Replacement Chromebook Case: $30 Charger for any device: $25
PERRY COUNTY YOUTH SOCCER: The registration for Perry County Youth Soccer has begun. The league is for boys and girls in preschool through 6th grade. Forms need to be postmarked on or before May 31, 2017. Forms are available outside the elementary office.
SAIL WINNERS: The following students were drawn for displaying S-safety, A-accountability, I-integrity and L-learning : Xzavior Basham, Cooper Brown, Cadance Cash, Autumn Frye, Isabella Harpenau, Wyatt Harris, Caleb Howell, Natalie Hubert, Leigh'Lyn Humphrey, Brooklyn Jarboe, Hannah Long, Emma Osborne, Lila Schwartz and Seven Whistle!
JUNIOR HIGH ORIENTATION: Incoming 7th graders and their parents are encouraged to attend the Jr. High Orientation on July 31st at 6 p.m. Following a light meal, transitioning to H.S., school policies and expectations will be discussed. Students will get their locker assignments and combintations.
BACK TO SCHOOL COOKOUT: The annual back to school cookout will be held on Tuesday, August 1st from 5-7 p.m. There will be community booths and giveaways, prize registrations, free hot dogs and performances by the band and cheerleaders. Families can visit with their student's new teachers and go to the book rental. This year the cookout will be held in conjunction with the Perry County celebration of the National Night Out with police, fireman and other emergency personnel and vehicles outside.
