VALENTINES DANCE: Captain’s Club is sponsoring a semi-formal Valentines Dance for grades 6-8 on Saturday, February 9 from 7:00-10:00. Admission is $5 and drinks will be sold for an additional $1. Pictures will also be available for purchase for $5.
PEDIATRICIAN AT PERRY COUNTY FAMILY PRACTICE: Perry County Family Practice, the clinic at the caution light across from Perry Central, has a pediatrician practicing now. Dr. Krystal Hahus is available all week and on Wednesdays till 6:00.
ATTENDANCE CHALLENGE MONTH: Perry Central Elementary has declared January an attendance challenge month. School attendance is one of the best ways you can prepare your child for success in life. To encourage students to build the habit of good attendance, elementary students who have perfect attendance in January will be entered in a drawing for a gift certificate for a bicycle. Two bikes will be awarded at the end of the month.
HUNTERS EDUCATION: There will be a Hunter's Education Course offered at Perry Central in January. The dates for the course will be January 28th, 29th, 30th & 31st. Classes will begin at 3:00 and be instructed by Indiana Conservation Officer, Zac Howerton. Registration forms may be picked up in the high school and elementary offices on Friday, January 4th. BASKETBALL GAME CHANGE: The South Spencer 6th grade girls game on Tuesday, January 15 will be an "A" game followed by a fifth quarter with a 10 minute running clock.
PAOLIPEAKS: Due to lack of cold weather and snow the discount Paoli Peaks Skiing opportunity for students has been extended. All youth in grades 3 -12 are included. The event will be held on Sunday, January 27th, meet at Perry Central School by Dome at 9 a.m. and return at 6 p.m. Cost is $40 which includes ski or snowboard rental, lift ticket, lesson, lunch and dinner. To enroll call the extension office at 812-547-7084 by Jan 23rd. Information has been distributed and is available outside the elementary office.

INTERESTED IN GIRL SCOUTS: The Girl Scouts will have an informational meeting with K & 1st grade students at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22nd at Perry Central followed up by activities/meeting with students and parents on the evening of January 29th from 6:00-7:00 at Perry Central. LIGHTS ON GYMNASTICS: Gymnastics will now be offered at Lights-On for students in grades K-6 on Mondays. The workshop will be held from 4:00-5:00. If you have any questions, please call Ms. Dixie at 843-5122.
KINDNESS FOR KAYLA: The family of Kayla Rounds is selling T-Shirt to raise money for suicide prevention. The order form for the Kindness for Kayla T-Shirts are available in the office. Money and form can be turn in to Mrs. Duncan or the high school office
GIRLS WHO CODE CLUB: Girls in grades 3-12 interested in joining the girls who code club need to see Heather Alvey to sign up. Club meetings will be held in Mr. Walsh's room, Girls in 6-12 grades will have meetings on Mondays and 3-5 grades on Wednesdays.
CUPID'S DASH: Just want to remind everyone to register for Cupid's Dash on Feb. 16th at the Jasper Youth Sports Complex! Registration forms are available in the HS Office. It is a 2 mile or 4 mile run/walk. All proceeds will go to Cole Johnson's family to help with medical bills. Come out and support the Johnson family and meet your New Year's resolutions by getting some exercise! It is $25 if you register by Jan 26th and $30 after that!
PIANO LESSONS OFFERED: Sisa Watkins is a graduate from Boyce College with a B.S. in Worship and Music Studies with a concentration in piano, and is currently accepting new students. She has been teaching piano lessons for 6 years. She teaches ages 6 and up, and charges $20 for every 30 minute lesson and $25 for every 45 minute lesson. COMMODORE TABLE: Families are invited to come to PC and share a free meal once a month. The meal is usually held on the last Tuesday of the month in the cafeteria and starts at 5:30. p.m. This month's meal will be on January 29th.
BORN LEARNING: The next Born Learning program for families with children birth to 5 years will be held on January 29th. Come early at 5 to hear from community partners. The dinner will be held at 5:30 in conjunction with the Commodore Table with the parent and children sessions to follow.
IMMUNIZATION CLINICS: The Perry County Health Department holds Immunization clinics for vaccinations. Under-insured and Uninsured children's vaccinations given at $8/shot, however, no one is turned away for inability to pay. Commercially Insured Patients have two clinics: Monday 9-11 a.m. at Perry County Health Department by appointment only (call 812-547-2746) and at Perry County Memorial Hospital every 1st, 3rd and 5th Thursday of the month from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. by appointment only (call 547-0128). Medicaid, Under-insured and Non-insured have two clinics: Mondays 1-4 p.m. walk-ins (check in by 3:30) at Perry County Health Department and Tuesdays 9 - 11 a.m. and 1-4 p.m. (check in by 3:30) walk ins at Perry County Health Department.
