As a public school corporation, we are committed to providing the best possible educational experiences for all students.  Our school corporation includes Perry Central Elementary and Perry Central Junior-Senior High School.  Both schools, as well as the central office, are housed under one roof.  This configuration offers a unique opportunity for collaboration across grade levels and seamless services and educational opportunities for our students.  Everyone at Perry Central is here to support student learning--as we work together to create a community for learning, modeling lifelong learning and supporting a positive school climate.Perry Central is the geographic and the social center of our district, and we work to build on this strength.  At Perry Central, we recognize that education includes more than striving for excellence in K-12 education, which is why we also offer preschool, after school programming, community outreach activities, family and community focused health and social services, as well as a large variety of extra-curricular activities for our students. We are proud of our community, our teachers and staff, and especially our students.  I welcome dialogue with parents and the community.  Please feel free to contact me, as we work together to make Perry Central even stronger.

Thank you for visiting the Perry Central Community School Corporation website.  At Perry Central, we are committed to providing an excellent education for our students. Toward that end, we continually look at data to both celebrate success and to determine what needs to be improved.  My role at Perry Central is to lead work in school improvement, curriculum and instruction, and professional development.  Currently, we are in the process of implementing standards-based report cards (and improved grading practices) in grades K-7.  Each year, we will add a grade level until the entire corporation is in a standards-based system.  Our report cards will be a hybrid between traditional and standards-based in that they will include both a letter grade for each subject and standards ratings for specific topics under each subject.  If you are interested in the details of this process, please follow this link to our page on standards-based grading.

We also actively pursue grant funding to support our efforts in academic achievement and community development.  We have a variety of grants in place for 2012-2013, including the Safe Schools/Healthy Students initiative, which provides school social workers and other support staff; the 21st Century Community Learning Center grant, which funds an after-school program; the McKinney-Vento grant, which provides free before and after-school tutoring; a Special Education Improvement grant, which is bringing the latest assistive technology to our students with special needs; and several local community grants.

If you would like more information about any of our programs or initiatives, please contact me or another member of our school team.

Thank you!

Tara Bishop
